: Beware: Chrysler Financial False Advertising
gumbee 09-17-2006, 06:23 PM I received an email regarding the availability of 0% financing on ALL Grand Cherokee's this week. The email specifically states the SRT is included. Since the promotion ends the 18th, I figured I better run to the closest dealer that has the SRT I have been eye'ing for a couple of weeks now... which was an hour away from my house
I should have known there was a problem the moment I asked about the 0%, and no one seemed to know anything about it being offered on the SRT. So, I had my wife print off and fax the email over to the dealership. After a couple of hours on the phone, the Sales Manager informed me that there has been an error, and the offer is not offered on the SRT. I even spoke with the rather calous person on the phone, who simply said we made a mistake, and there is nothing we can do for you.
Once Chrysler realized they had made a "mistake", why didn't they pro-actively notify their 5-Star dealers that customers may be walking in asking about this? Is this the new bait-and-switch?
I have to ask, as much as I really like the vehicle, is this a company I want to do business with?
gumbee 09-17-2006, 06:24 PM I forgot to include the email I received... sorry.

Untouchable 09-17-2006, 06:38 PM I would call corporate and make them honor it, at least for you. they have to make some reparation for that error if it indeed is one

yep its on there... make em eat it.. none of this o sorry harmless mistake
gumbee 09-17-2006, 07:16 PM If someone has a number to call, I would greatly appreciate it. I know if I call the generic help line, I'll just get the canned answers... which will only serve to infuriate me further.
lincoln 09-17-2006, 09:07 PM Go ahead and call the "main" cust serv number (I don't know it) and tell them about the ad and ask why your "local" dealer wouldn't honor it, tell them you have a copy of the ad you can fax them. See what happens, if the ad wasn't a mistake you might get some satisfaction. If it was, you might have a little more of an uphill battle to get any. Start with honey, but keep the vinegar close by :)
gumbee 09-18-2006, 09:52 AM I called the phone number at the bottom of the email... they told me to call the main number on Monday (today). The folks at the main number know *nothing* about this promotion, and told me to call the Incentives line.
At first, the person I was speaking to on the incentives line knew nothing about this promotion either. But, she did take the time to ask someone else about it. They want me to send them the copy of the email I received, as it seems no one really knows who is to blame.
Maybe there is still hope CF will make good on this offer.
MatFab 09-18-2006, 10:29 AM i figure false advertising no matter what since it straight up mentions the srt8. you should be able to get that deal
2007GCSRT8 09-18-2006, 12:44 PM Call the local attorney general and see if they will make a call on your behalf. If the dealer won't honor it, file a complaing with the AG.
Jerod 09-18-2006, 01:29 PM Attorney General will make sure you get your deal. That is false advertising plain and simple. Regardless of error they have to honor it by law.
Untouchable 09-18-2006, 02:34 PM just call corporate and keep asking to be spoken to so and so's supervisor, as with anyone you eventually (I never said it would be easy, but nothing worth it ever is) break through the front lines (which is exactly what these people are paid sh!t money to do, they get paid to tell you no) I'm sorry, I have done this so many times with success that I know the game. So you break through the front lines and then you are left with the QB quivering there, ready to take down to chinatown. This person is there to fix whatever problem you have. Explain it to him/her and they take care of it. They make sure you get what you want. It might sound like a game but that is how these things work. Ask me if you need anymore help.
(forget taking it up with the dealer, they are useless)
Think of it as telling on a bully's mom for them making fun of you.
HEMEEE 09-18-2006, 05:39 PM Serious disputes, such as criminal allegations or false advertising, should be reported to the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission.

gumbee 09-18-2006, 09:53 PM Thanks folks for all the input.
I sent an email to the address they gave me this morning. Guess what... it bounced. This is getting ridiculous.
I would rather try to simply get CF to honor the promotion as opposed to going through the FTC. Call my a cynic, but I just doubt the FTC is really gonna give a rat's ass about my problem. ;)

You may be right about the FTC but this is something your state's AG should want to get involved with. I'm betting they have a whole department for just these types of consumer issues. Give them a call and let them send a letter.

Good luck

There are dedicated folks on the main Chrysler customer service line for SRT owners that should be able to help you. As an example on a different topic, I called right after EP was announced because it was only 2 weeks after I bought to see if they could do something for me. They offerred to reimburse me for my first 2 oil changes as long as they are performed by a Jeep dealer. Already got reimbursed for the first one. My dealer charges 97.20 on this beast. Anyway, try to get through to the SRT customer service reps.
radduc 09-20-2006, 11:28 AM Sp what happened gumbee???
gumbee 09-20-2006, 08:18 PM Sorry... been busy at work today.
I called them back and ended up faxing the docs over to them (Chrysler Incentives). I was told I could expect a call within the next day or so. Still hoping that Chrysler will make good on the offer, without having to go through "legal" channels.
