: At How many miles did your brakes begin to squeal?
RMRSRT 01-29-2008, 07:40 AM Hey guyz not sure if this is an old thread, but just curious at how many miles did your rigs start to have the infamous brake squeal. For those of you lucky enough not to have it yet, how many miles do you currently have.
If your sig does not mention please post the year of your rig.
Jred22 01-29-2008, 07:44 AM probably around 500, it didn't get annoying until around 3,500. I got R1 rotors and GS6 pads and no squeal yet, and been in temps from 5 to 60 degrees F.
Jeep Trick 01-29-2008, 07:51 AM 08 - 6100 miles and no squeal yet :worried:
But my exhaust has a nasty little rattle
echo412 01-29-2008, 08:00 AM I have an 06 with 17k on it with no squeal.
candyman 01-29-2008, 08:03 AM 06 with 3,500 - no squeal.
DanDE 01-29-2008, 08:21 AM '07 started squeal after a couple of thousand miles. Had TSB done, & still squeals like crazy (at 9k now). Working with service dept. on what else can me done.
Matt McKenzie 01-29-2008, 08:25 AM Got squeal around 1,000...and is really bad now, 17,000!
SRTYA 01-29-2008, 08:32 AM 08 - 6100 miles and no squeal yet :worried:

Dealer told me my exhaust will eventually start rattling. He said it is a known problem, I am not sure if there is a TSB for it or not but the good news is the replacement mufflers are magnaflows. As for the brake squeal mine started at about 200 miles. I had the TSB done and no squeal and no grooves for 6000 miles now. I even swapped calipers about 1000 miles ago with a charger and still no squeal.
gafettaia 01-29-2008, 08:47 AM Right from the dealer lot.
Just installed Rotex pads. So far no dust.
The Brembo pads will eventually ruin the aluminum wheels.
ILLSMOQ 01-29-2008, 09:00 AM no brake squeal yet at 500 miles but driving home from the dealership the exhaust rattle ws horrible. found it to be a small heat sheild in between the transmission and the exhaust. Bent it away from the pipes and the rattle is gone.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 01-29-2008, 09:15 AM 3miles and going strong. lol

I hope my exhaust starts rattling!!!
2008 6800miles no squeel yet (well maybe one time I think I heard something but I haven't heard it again)
1BAMFR 01-29-2008, 10:04 AM When it came off the trailer in my driveway
GC GEEZER 01-29-2008, 12:09 PM 06' with 11k miles. No squeal yet but I'm easy on the brakes and try to keep the truck clean and garaged if that makes a difference. However, with the Borla S and new CAI, I probably wouldn't be able to hear a problem even if it was hooked to an air raid siren

2007GCSRT8 01-29-2008, 01:11 PM 07...Just got my second TSB done at 12,000 miles. I took it in for the second time expecting them to say something about doing it 2 months earlier. They fixed it (lets hope) free of charge and didn't say anything. I also got my door rattle fixed, the shift hesitation between 1st and 2nd and my front windows which had a mind of their own.
slow91 01-29-2008, 01:40 PM '07 started squeal after a couple of thousand miles. Had TSB done, & still squeals like crazy (at 9k now). Working with service dept. on what else can me done.
Same issue here....exactly why I haven't been to the service dept for ANYTHING. Screw a TSB......:ninja: 8K miles now....
jlandbl 01-29-2008, 01:45 PM 2006 - orginal squeal (rear only) started at 8K miles. TSB applied at 13K miles and squeal (rear) returned after another 4K miles. TSB applied again at 19K miles.
MARK16 01-29-2008, 01:54 PM 2006 - 15K Service, fitted and no problem since. Just had 22K service and had to have a new set of front pads @ £400 (to you $800) - ouch!
Rear squeal just started at 6600 miles on my 06
fergcougar 01-29-2008, 03:13 PM No squeal at 16,000 on my 07
BILLSHOE 01-29-2008, 04:53 PM 07 Mine Started Squealling Right Off Dons Trailer

Derwood98 01-29-2008, 07:02 PM 07...Just got my second TSB done at 12,000 miles. I took it in for the second time expecting them to say something about doing it 2 months earlier. Stopped into the dealer today. I had two items. The front differential vent is leaking AGAIN and the rear brakses are squeeling AGAIN. I had the diff vent replaced once before along with the TBS on the rear brakes. They said they will replace the vent again and they will order rotors for the rear to see if that stops the squeel. They said they just did the rears on another SRT8 earlier in the week. I guess we will give this a go before replacing the brakes and rotors and screw the warranty.
SRT8ITWHOLE 01-29-2008, 07:15 PM 07 with 700+ miles. The rear brake squeal is starting to get annoying. I don't like the fact that the rotors look like 70,000 miles already. I also believe the dust will etch the clear coat on the wheels no matter how religeous you are about keeping them clean. I'm a big fan of ceramic pads on the dust issue but I doubt they'll install my choice of pads if I go in on the TSB. I'd even furnish them if they'd do the labor. Anybody tried that route?
dmaownsyou 01-29-2008, 07:24 PM Bought mine used last year with 12k miles, they preformed the tsb before purchase, but it started again about 500 miles later.
damn I thought there was something wrong with my car, it was pissing me off.. 08 3,000 miles and squeaking.
turbo_neon 01-31-2008, 03:27 PM 08' 150 miles and squealing. . . I dont see why they want fix our brakes but on my 300C they hooked me up with slotted ones that looked pretty trick (esp. for free!) but they want do it on the exact same brake system just on a diffent platform?
Is this logical thinking or am i off on my thinking?

BlackFlie 10-03-2008, 08:33 PM '07 - 30,000km roughly,(19884 miles) squeel is so bad i can pull it in the garage with out the kids yelling at me, or the dog barking.. i tried to get the dealer to do the tsb on it but they said no... called chrysler, they said.. to fkn bad... thinking of selling just for this reason, this is my 8th chrysler product (and im only 33) and never looking back... im not sure what to do... between the break dust and the squeek (and im broke) not sure what my options are....

sy1616 10-04-2008, 06:42 AM 15,500 miles on my 08 and nothing!
CTS-Veo 10-04-2008, 11:49 AM I've got about 4000 miles and I get a little bit of squeekage every now and then. It's not real bad yet, but if it does get real bad I will be swaping to something different
mandan007 10-04-2008, 12:25 PM 7600 miles and no squeal. But, I don't use the brakes much:D

'06 8900 squealed from ~1500-2000, nothing much now.
Tony Rags 10-05-2008, 09:46 AM '08: A random slight squeal under light pressure occasionally. Started @ 9,500 miles. Not too bad.....yet
JeepSRT 10-05-2008, 09:53 AM '06 with 13K and never had the squeal.
EROD10379 10-05-2008, 10:58 PM Got squeal around 6500 - 10500. Took it to local dealer who said it was normal. Wrote Corporate for Chrysler, they told me to take it to a 5-star dealer. I did. hey fixed problem with new pads adn copper paste. All squeal is gone now. The shims HAD TO BE REMOVED. It got shipped with Shims installed. the TBS from 2007 still applies if brakes are under warranty, at least that's what the 5-star dealership told me. GITTERDUN!
Matt McKenzie 10-06-2008, 06:07 AM Get one of those train horns Greg!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betray 11-09-2008, 10:32 PM oh god 08, and its at 27,000km and its such an annoying squeel like a pig is dying a horrible death. (sorry for the bad comparison). what is the cure for this? new pads? where can i get better ones?
Manny85382 11-18-2008, 09:36 PM Mine is 06 I bought it with 27k miles and it started squeaking about a month after I bought it. Recently the squealing got really bad and it turns out my rotors were toast but I never knew since it has sqealed since day one. So I called R1 and installed my new rotors and Hawk HPS pads and hopefully it goes away or the squeaking lessens significantly.
But what I want to know is how bad does everyone elses brakes squeal? I dont really know anyone with a Jeep SRT here in town to compare it to. Is there any videos on youtube? the reason I ask is because with me it got to the point where I couldnt drive with the windows rolled down because it was so loud and embarassing.
my02grand 11-18-2008, 09:52 PM Fella's mines an 06 with 8K miles on it and they squeal something fears. It's embarrassing and annoying. I drive this beautiful Jeep, that squeals when i brake...errr
RockSRT8 11-19-2008, 12:09 PM On the way home from the dealer.
