: Losing air slowly in all tires

Has anyone experienced air slowly leaking out of all of the tires? I bought the jeep July 1st, this is the 2nd time I have had to add air.

All of the tires have lost about 5 pounds each time.

I plan to take it back to the dealer but just wanted to see if anyone else had this happen.

I tried searching, but did not find anything.

Here is what I did: First, I checked the tire pressure info on the dash - it read 31 lbs for each tire.

Next, I put air in the tires - using 2 gauges (one on the air pump, one hand held).

Per the gauges, all tires read 34 lbs.

Went back into the jeep and checked the tire pressure info on the dash - it read 31 LF, 35 for all others.

Checked the tires again with the gauges......all read 34 lbs.

So now I have 2 problems - losing air, and inaccurate readings.

Maybe after I take a ride the readings will change.

Cooler outside air temps= lower tire pressure readings after sitting overnite.

you are suppose to check air pressure in your tires every month. your air sensors could be loose or your valve core could not be tight.

you could always have your tires filled with pure nitrogen...(supposed to permeate slower than 'air')

Costco around here fills with nitrogen. I'm not sure who else has it.

My sons best friend is a manager at a Discount Tire store. I called him when my left front tire started losing air at a rate of 10#s an hour while I was on a road trip because I didn't want to do something to damage the air sensors. He said these kind of valve stems are known to occasionally develop slow leaks. He told me to tighten the valve stem a quarter to a half turn or so (use a deep socket on the valve stem nut) and see if that doesn't solve the problem. I tightened it a quarter turn and it hasn't lost any air since.

My tires have lost 5 lbs over 1 month. I know that mine is due to the climate change. After running on the freeway, I've always noticed the air pressure will go up as the tires get warmer.

They tend to lose air more with a chrome plated wheel and also cooler weather.

The stock wheels are not chrome plated, they are polished/clear coated.

......if you're losing air in all tires it's your valves. Put soapy water around each valve and tighten slowly until the bubbles stop. Had the same problem with the sensors on my Quest. The sensors will re calibrate better after you drive the car for a few minutes. They don't re adjust well while sitting, you need to be moving...

^ its not the valves. Its the stock crap goodyears - for some reason they lose pressure like mad, especially when it gets colder. When i got my bridgestones on I didnt have that problem any more. Thats how i know it was the oem crapflats.

Filled mine with 50 PSI on all 4 tires, and a lil while after that (like 3 weeks) and I went on a rd trip to RI, each tire has dropped 4-5 PSI...I will continue to monitor the PSI via the on-dash EVIC (BTW, after I put 50 PSI (it said this on my pen tire gauge), the dash said 55-58 PSI per tire!!...so Id assume the EVIC is slightly off.

...glad you found the problem. I am surprised as Goodyear usually makes good tires. Do you get any vibrations from the Bridgestones??

......my understanding is that the tire sensors are your most accurate reading.....pen gauges are usually cheap unaccurate and plastic
