Looks like the TBSS will be the closest competition for the SRT8, I know in stock configuration the SRT will beat it, BUT by it having a 6.0 liter LS2 (Corvette) engine the aftermarket is gonna be nice.

I hope the aftermarket for the SRT picks up, so this can make for some good old american rivalry. :D

Yeah the SS has a great motor to work off, just like the SRT8 motor. However, they have a lot more parts and tuning options for it since the motor is heavily mod'd in the Vette crowd.
However, in terms of a "looks" competition, the Jeep wins hands down! I saw my first SS a few days ago and DAMN that truck is UGLY!!! Seriously, the side of the truck gets a ZERO in terms of body lines. The only aspect that seemed half ok was the front, but the Jeeps front kills all. I know it may sounds bias from a Jeep owner, but I but you you park both trucks (SS and Jeep SRT8) side by side in the same color and survey random people, I bet they will say the Jeep looks better. I rank the SS next to the Cayenne in terms of looks! ;)

Looks don't get you through the 1/4 mile first.

I compared both before I purchased the SRT8. The SRT8 had what I was looking for and a little more. I m might have been persuded toward the TBSS if it had more power and a stiffer suspension. I m glad with my purchase. Aftermarket parts should be comming soon as every other competitor is gunning to take away the Jeeps place in performance, let the modding begin!!

Looks don't get you through the 1/4 mile first. :cool:Your point? If the TBSS had been quicker I'd still have chosen the GC SRT-8 due to its looks. I look at my truck many times every day. I may take it to the track 2 times a year. The fact that the GC SRT-8 is a superior performer is wonderful but I'd have chosen it anyway.

I also looked closely at the SS before deciding between the two. At first it was a tough decision, I could have ordered an SS for $100 over invoice, which would have made it $10k less than the SRT! Plus it is more of a sleeper, which I generally prefer. Then I smelled the coffee... more power and 100x better aesthetics made it worth the extra dough. I don't regret my decision one bit.

I've been watching the TBSS forums and there's already guys in the high 11's with their 2WD trucks. AWD versions aren't being modded as quickly. If they hadn't used the terrible 4L60E tranny and open diff up front I'd be looking harder at the TBSS due to less price and many more mods available.
Lingenfelter is releasing a magnacharger for $8900 installed in 2 weeks....

I'm supprised the TBSS came with a single exhaust. That's pretty pathetic. But I think in Black it looks pretty tough. If I couln't have afforded the Jeep, I would have had no problem getting the TBSS.

The TBSS has that nice Boring played out family SUV Style. Motor is still weak. Suspension is weak. Entire vehicle is just lame. There is no comparison. Especially if someone does a twin turbo or supercharger to their SRT 8. http://www.netcarshow.com/chevrolet/2006-trailblazer_ss/1024x768/wallpaper_06.jpg
That single donkey dick exhaust went out in the 80's.

Here's something with balls and style from every angle, not to mention the awesome SRT Interior. http://www.jeep.com/autoshow/img/vehicles/cherokee_srt8_main.jpg

The difference is....... they need to be modded to be considered "the closest competition" There will always be something faster whether its an SUV or VW Bug.....
I got my Jeep SRT8 because it is the fastest production SUV available, its beautiful, and built very well. Its a daily driver, nothing more. Its fast enough for some good little stop light romps. If someone was so concerned with being the fastest down the quater mile, they shouldn't be looking at heavy SUV's. I have a heavily modded Z06 for that reason. With its heavy duty clutch and big cam, its not as driver friendly in 5 o'clock traffic. The Jeep suits those needs well and is fast enough in its own right. I don't need to mod it to keep up or beat other SUV's.....The bar was raised when the GC SRT8 came out and now everyone else is trying to play catch-up... to figure out what they need to do to theirs to be considered our competition. I don't want to sound rude. But I don't see too many SRT8 owners going to other performance SUV forums and trying to justify to them how the GC is alot better then they might have thought... We're secure with our stock performance and anything modded or not that falls in the low 13 second range will be considered friendly competition. But its definitely a stretch to consider anything that needs to be modded "the closest competition"

When ekool made that "post #1" announcing pricing details, I had already purchased mine, shipped it to the caribbean on a boat, and installed xenons in it.

Ekool, could you be a little faster next time? :D
