Well I am tired of these $100.00 oil changes so I am going to do the next one myself this weekend. I am going to use the mobil 1 synthetic 0w-30 oil and I was just wondering what is the best oil filter to use? I am between the mobil 1 filter, the k&n one, or just the factory mopar one. Thanks!

Use 0W40 oil, I think 0W30 might be a little thin and any of those filters are good. Mopar oil filters are high quality. I have used the Mobil 1 filters on different rides and am currently using a K&N on the beast. Oil changes on these Jeeps are VERY easy, too easy to pay someone anyways.

Do you even need to raise it to do an oil change?

Yes, get a set of Rhino Ramps and just drive up on them. Makes it sooo easy.

I think I ment 0W40 lol, thats the oil they use from the factory, right? I just want to put in the grade of oil that was in it from the factory. Thanks for all your help......if anyone has the part number for the mopar oil filter that would be great!

will the ramps aid in draining? I thought the truck needed to be level

The oil drains fine with the truck on the ramps. I take off the plug, and go do somthing else for about a hour. When I return, every drop of oil is drained. Just make sure the pan/container you are using to drain into is set up to catch the oil when it drips at a slower pace.

Thanks for tip. My local parts store has gotten awfully proud of theirs lately. I've been getting M1 filters instead, but now back to my favorite.

Hey All!!!

K&N filters at High Horse Performance.com (Newark, DE) are 16.99 for a set of 2. They also have a bunch of other stuff for our SRT's as well. Thats the best price I've seen anywhere. That's what I usually use in my vehicles. They're a bunch of good guys over there.
