Just wondering what happened to the philips ultinon HID kit with the slim ballasts? I thought it was supposed to be the best aftermarket HID kit and it fit in our jeeps perfect.

does fit great. Not sure why they stopped carrying it. Think Steve is having better luck selling the Extreme kits.

Any more information would be appreciated..... I remember they used to also carry the componets (bulbs, wire harnesses, ballasts, etc) for the kit seperately for purchase which was nice in case a specific componet became damaged and you would not have to replace the whole HID kit. I wonder if they still have componets for this kit in storage somewhere. Also, how does the ultinon kit compare to the xtreme kit in terms of color and light output? I could not see it getting any better than the ultinon because the ultinon is genuine philips and the ballasts are used in many vehicles with OEM HIDs, but maybe ill be surprised. One thing is for sure though, no ballasts fit as perfect and give a stealthy factory OEM look like the slim ballasts used in the ultinon kit.

Hello,

We discontinued the Philips based kits approx 1 year ago.

Philips ballasts are great for OEM HID applications however they are also designed for OEM HID applications. In OEM HID applications the ballasts are usually encased within the headlight protecting them from water damage. In aftermarket HID applications the ballast is usually mounted outside the headlight where it is susceptible to weather damage.

The Xtreme ballasts are specifically designed for this application as they are epoxy sealed making them water tight. This product line uses Japanese bulbs and ballasts to ensure both the quality and durability of the product. We have been carrying this line for approximately 4 years now so it is an established product line that works well and is reliable.

Hope this helps,

Steve
