Hi, I've been a member for a couple of weeks now and since I’ll be getting the beast soon, I decided to officially introduce myself. It's been a long wait here in South Africa and what makes it worst is the fact that the dealer order lists are very long and we only getting around 38 units for 2006. I'VE MANAGED TO SECURE ONE (will collect it in 3 weeks). Four questions:
-does it sound as mean or meaner than the X5 4.8is
-I have the option to extend the maintenance plan from 60k km to 108k km at a price of about R55000( about (us)$7800),, is this worth it or necessary?
-I need ideas on a nice personalized plate i.e. monster, beast etc, any ideas?.
-Lastly, since I’m on the reef (Johannesburg), altitude is of concern. Does a high altitude impact the beast severely?

Thanks and please don't be too hard on me

1) Meaner than the 4.8i? Tenfold.
2) Do you plan on keeping your vehicle longer than three years? If so, the warranty is a good idea.
3) You should decide on the plate, that is what makes it personal :)
4) Altitude will affect performance, depending on the specific height above sea level. Anything under 2000 ft should not be a huge concern IMO.

I didn't notice much of a difference driving from LA to Reno (about 4300ft) but the weather in California was 100+ the entire drive.

Welcome.

Raced one, took him!
I did the extended maintenance plan, I don't think I paid that much for it though. You should keep asking on that one.
There's a lot of websites that have pretty much anything you want to say figured out in license plate lingo. Some are only made out by looking at them in a mirror, like UTA3I ( I eat you ).

Altitude is not a problem, Jeeps are abundant in the Sierra's and Rocky's when they came out with the hemi. I don't think the srt8 will fall short because of altitude, even aroun 7k feet. But getting an edge on intake like the Mopar CAI would help of course.

And how long did that take?
