: Truck has to sit outside :(

Just starting school again and i have to park my beauty outside :( I was going to just leave it at home so it could be pampered in the garage but couldn't leave it so i brought it with me. Maybe a bad idea since it has to sit outside and get rained and snowed on. Does anyone else worry about the effects to the car (paint, rust, sun, etc.) of leaving outside over the winter months? I was pondering buying an all weather cover and just clean it up real good and covering it for a few weeks while the heavy snow is coming. Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Anyone else leave their beast outside. I know its sad :(

I have my Jeep outside year round. It's a shame, but paying for an indoor garage would run me about $250 a month. Mine is the Overland so it's slightly more designed for bad weather, I guess. Doesn't make me feel TOO bad...

It's got a floor, a roof, windows, just like your house!
So it's made to be outside :D

Unlike motorcycles. :p

Thats true it is made to be outside i guess. I just worry about the "Shine" factor you could say. Just don't want my paint to get "dull" from all the dirt, dust, rain, etc. Maybe just worry about to much. I just love this truck and want to keep it in tip top condition. Maybe ill just wash it once a week. Im sure that will make it happy :D

I guess I'm a little lucky that way.
I really wanted a 2008 in black, but there was none around. So I got silver.
Much more forgiving to a little neglect of cleaning, waxing, and polishing.

But the wheels sure show the dirt...
Especially in an Ottawa(Canada) winter.

Any good ideas for every day(or 2nd day) cleaning?

Just keep a good coat of wax on her and the paint will be fine. Just stay away for sand/salt if possible.

when i got mine new i took it to get a clear bra and 6 coats of paint sealant before i did anything. maybe you could look into automotive paint sealant specialist around your side of town, either that or wax it really good. also i like to clean mine off after it has been in the winter elements (salty slushy roads) to avoid paint issues. Out ere in CO they use MgCl so it can be really bad on the rims and paint, i take her to the wash and spray it off ASAP.

I will be in Ottawa in a week and a half for four days!!! Mine stays outside all the time because it is my daily driver and I don't have a garage!

I just got mine about a week ago and i don't think it has been waxed in a while if ever because after a rain storm the rain doesnt beed off the hood like it does with a waxed paint job. I think I am due for a nice wax job ASAP considering it is sitting outside exposed to the elements. Gotta protect that beautiful black

We're doing pretty good for weather right now. It's right at freezing, but the last week has been warm, most of the snow we got at the beginning of
December is gone, the roads are mostly dry. :)

Part of the reason mine stays outside as well(besides it has a roof! lol) is my wife's car and my RC51 are in the garage.

What part of NY you in?

I am in Watertown dude...so our weather is pretty identical! I am right across the border from Gananoque. It is only an hour and a half drive for me! We are supposed to get snow tonite...so could be the same for you!
