: picked up kicker upgrade system today...
Lonebull 01-08-2008, 09:19 PM so i picked up the kicker upgrade system from the jeep dealer today...these were the prices i paid & part # :
77kick18 amp $167
77kick10 2 front door & 2 dash speakers $81
77kick11 2 rear door speakers $137
77kick23 dual 10" subwoofers $610
total $995 + $85 tx =$1080
the funny thing is i got these prices from mopar supercenter website, and told the guy in parts at the dealership that this is the price the other guy from parts gave me last week, because his original prices for me today were:
amp $199
front door speakers $99
rear door speakers $159
dual subs $869
which is a total of $1326 before tx
which is a $340 difference.
it was a good thing i had the mopar supercenter prices written down on a piece of paper that i gave to the guy to see.
they told me it would be approx $300 to install.which i thought was fair.
now this is what i'm a little annoyed at, originally they charged me $717 for the dual subs because thats what i told him to charge me,ok,no problem. but when i got home i found them on mopar.com for $606.the same exact dual subwoofer so i went right back to the dealer after printing out the page from the website, and made a little bit of a stink about the $100, so they gave me $100 back to come down to $610. so now i'm wodering if i could have gotten the rest of the system any cheaper, i mean $869 down to $610 is ridiculous.
did i just get a good deal? or could i have done better?
i know a few guys here put the upgraded system in,so i was wondering what they thought about the prices.
and believe me, i dont condemn anyone for making money, this is america,we all have to eat. but i hate to get raped. and i firmly believe that these dealers are all whores and i take full pride in pissing them off by not letting them make money on me.

hound 01-08-2008, 09:41 PM I think you got a good deal at $1080. Probably the only way you could have gotten better is to know someone in the parts department and given you 5% over cost or something similar.

Raped??? Far from it. QUIT while you are ahead. You paid $995.00. The actual dealer cost for what you received is exactly $997.00. The dealer made a whopping $2.00. And if you paid by credit card, the dealer would have LOST more than $30.00.
As far as finding the same subwoofer for $606.00, since actual dealer cost is $652, wherever you saw it for that price had to be a typo and I doubt that the price would be honored.
Better give your dealer a call back and tell them there was a mistake and that the subwoofer should have been $717 and not $610 :).
They also quoted you an extremely reasonable price of $300 for the installation.
Lonebull 01-09-2008, 01:21 AM ok, so what your saying is, i did good.i'm becoming quite the cheap b*stard in my old age...lol
but i'll still tip the parts guy a $20 for hooking me up...
your right, it could be a typo on the subs, both the single & double are the same price.but it got me $100 back, and for some reason i dont feel that bad, lol,i would think they made a few dollars from me already since i bought 2 trucks in a month, financed one, paid cash for the other....and i paid cash for the system, as well as all the other parts ive bought in the last 3 months.
the $300 for install sounded reasonable,he told me approx 3-4 hrs to do,so they'll give me a loaner for the day.
this is from mopar.com,if you go to accessories for the jeeps, then audio, then subwoofer...

Nothing wrong with holding on to as much coin as possible, it's not always easy to come by these days, at least not for me! I'm sure your parts guy will more than appreciate a tip...
they made a few dollars from me already since i bought 2 trucks in a month, financed one, paid cash for the other....and i paid cash for the system, as well as all the other parts ive bought in the last 3 months.
I'm sure that they are very much ahead at this point...

Definitely a typo...
Give us a report after you get the system installed, will be curious as to your opinion on the upgrade.

yes i will,it will be done next tuesday,so i'll probably drive around all tuesday night and write a report on wed. lol...ive actually been listening to the stock BA system often at full volume this week, with different types of music just so i can make a good comparison.its been warm out here this week so i can open the windows. the stock BA system isnt actually that bad, even at full volume 35 it doesnt break up and stays nice and clear, and pretty loud.for the normal person,it's a very good system.
the one thing i dont like about it personally is the music just seems like its coming right in your face from the dash, and all the sound is in the front seat only.it's like your in a resturant or a bar with the music being played above you or from a jukebox, and i want to feel the music hitting me like i'm in a club.thats been my observation on stock so far.

turbotyphoon69 05-16-2008, 04:12 PM Is there any way of proving this resume? I just called up and ordered some but they came back telling me they were more than they even quoted me before, do you work for a dodge dealer?
