I ordered the Overland? 2007 chrome grille with webbing. I like the chrome grille as I think it ties the whole front end together with the chrome lights (especially with Inferno Red).

Attached, if I can do this right, are the pics:

What do you guys think?

Hate to reply to my own post, but those pictures were really bad. I am going to try these:

It does make your front look classy. Nice job!

I have a silver GC SRT8 and I am just about ready to order the grill myself. Where did you order yours from?

Now, it's time to put on the chrome "B" and "C" pillar covers! ;)

I like it. Are you going to the meet & greet next Sat? Would like it see it up close.

Thats not chrome. It's a brushed aluminum.

If you would have gotten the chrome grille i think it would have matched better.

Nice mod none the less.

Street Wk, your right it is a brushed aluminum. I was using the term "chrome" loosely. Actually, there is an area on the headlights that it matches real closely.

Juggernaught, be sure to get the one with the webbing that matches the rest of the SRT8. There is another one, much cheaper, that is more of a true chrome and has black vertical bars instead of the webbing. I'll get and post the part number for this one on Monday as I left it at work.

MWH1965, I will be there next Saturday, see you there!

Lose the bug shield

Agreed.

I'm trying to get a good overall idea of low it looks, but that bug deflector/shield is killing it for me.

Sorry :D

I think I am getting a thumbs up on the grille and a thumbs down on the bug deflector. Winters around here are pretty tough, sand blasting the whole front of your vehicle. I tried the 3M tape on my last SUV with mixed results.

For those that are interested, the part number is 55157372AA at a cost of $315.70.

Paint the bug deflector red.

The chrome grill that I was planning on ordering is an "overlay" rather than a full grill. It lists for $129.00 and is a Mopar accessory. Is this the same grill that you are talking about?

MNBob

I don't think the $129 is an overlay, but it is another grille (chrome (not the brushed aluminum look) with the black vertical bars).

Bob,

I like the look, not sure If I will go that route on my jeep or not. I put a clear BRA on the front of my jeep. It is 40mil thick and works great. I will put it on every new car I own from now on. I have found a couple spots in the film where stones hit it and I just used my finger nail to work it smooth. Here is a pic of the fender. The light has to hit the fender just right to see the edge of the film.

I had the clear film on my FX45. I can not tell you what thickness it was. It worked pretty well, but some stones made bubbles in it. And I must have hit something bigger that went right through and chipped the paint.

That being said, I am going to add some as well. My stone shield does not give full coverage and I may put it in some other areas.

Actually, the Overland has what DCX calls a "Platinum" grille, which looks like chrome with road film all over it. No flame, but the bug deflector does not fit the overall look of the vehicle.

MNBob

Yes, that is what this is. Some would call it brushed aluminum. The much cheaper one with the vertical bars has a more chrome look.

It is a good thing I have a thick skin, because you guys are almost unanimous in giving a thumbs down to the bug deflector. I appreciate the honesty, though.

I like the look, classy. I am looking for someone to offer a chrome version of the black mesh found in the grill and lower air scoop. Eden Prairie, MN....I was up there this past August. Very nice and clean community. Watch out for that black Magnum SRT8, plates are MY TAG and we chatted while at a red light. He intro'd me to these SRT8 forums. I was up in Eden Prairie for a shareholder meeting, company is called NVE.

Even a clear bug deflector would look better, you see the body color - not the black.

I originally told Bob to paint the bug deflector to match the body. Since then, I have seen this vehicle in person, and I retract that statement.

The pictures in this thread do not do justice - the black deflector looks great when viewing the vehicle in person, it provides a little contrast to the rest of the body, and looks extremely mean when looking at the vehicle through the rearview mirror. MO

sorry to be the only voice of dissent, but I have to be honest, I really like the monochromatic look of our trucks, I'd color match the whole thing if there was someone around here who could do it for me that I trusted. . . the chrome grill just doesn't do it for me. . . time for a new antenna also!

Do you remember or know what site you order the Chrome Grill? I want to get it for my 2008 GC Srt8.

the manual says no:

1.mud flaps
2.chrome gas caps
3.bug deflectors

black bug shield is taking away from grille..

front end is a little to busy on the eye... your not sure what to focus on IMO...

try makin up some pics without bug shield and posting them.. this way we can see the difference..

QnZFiNeStJaY, the grille came from the dealer (PN 55157372AA at $315.70).

You guys are really beating me up on the bug deflector. The only ones that like it are Black_SRT8 and myself.

The front end looks brutal. Change the grill back and get rid of the bug shield. Sry, but it doesn't look good like this.
