these trucks helped start all this crazy fast AWD SUV stuff we all love. Any run ins with one? :)

I have a fairly mint 91 Syclone that I adore. Pics here!

I was infatuated with these back when they came out. I had a Mustang LX 5.0 at the time but always longed for a Typhoon. I just could not afford it back then, I was 17 or 18 years old at the time. Your Syclone is awsome, nice and clean. I would still love to have one.

Thanks! It has 40K orig miles. The cladding is painted which I think looks much better. The paint overall is insane!.. I added the ZR1 wheels but am considring a swap to something else. I have the basic mods, exhaust, intake, chip, AFPR, 225L fuel pump, lowered (correctly), sway bars, etc. It's a blast to drive, no dissimilar to our SRT-8s...the power is just more in your face whereas the Jeep is more linear. It's my third Syclone and I regret selling both of the other ones. It sits covered for the most part and gets driven maybe 300 miles/yr. To me it's more a piece of art that I can look at for hours in my garage. Something very cool about them. Only made in 1991, only in black with a total run of 2995 units. Extremely easy to make fast(er) :)

Yeah that is nice. I always liked them. The real question is will it beat your SRT-8 in the quarter or no? I always wondered if they would.

I always wanted a Typhoon. Almost bought one a couple of years ago. It was local and only had 19k miles. I just didn't have the garage space yet, and I couldn't see it sitting outside.

I did have the pleasure of beating a Ty at the track this past summer though.

Sold my 93 Typhoon with 23k last July....Mine was #409 off the production line for 93, I believe they produced approximately 2100 or so. It was a sweet truck but my GCSRT is a hell of a lot sweeter. hahha

I had a Syclone back in '94, its the only vehicle I've owned that I regret selling. I'd like to find one again just to put up. I added a KB chip, FP reg, and filter it ran 12.72 @ 104.

Don't know but my initial feeling is that it likely will. Would be real close. The SRT8 has more up top but the Sy gets out of the hole a bit quicker. The traction control nonsense can get in the way of a good launch on the GCSRT8.

Same deal here. I regretted selling my past two and now this one (the nicest of the three) just sits and gets driven only once in a blue moon. There's just something about owning one. It's amazing the reaction you get from people.

was close to being my first ride back in 96-97. if i remember correctly these things were rare then. lol either you had one or you wanted one, but the only few on the market were the ones abused to all hell, so needless to say i went with a POS 85' jeep cherokee limited (was it a 2.6L V6?) with the fake wood paneling (handed down from my older sister) i am sure all of you can imagine what condition it was in since it had been my sisters car. lol had a rebuilt engine in it since she never put oil in it, not that this engine was good for anything anyway (prolly the worst engine put in a jeep to date). so basically went from what was the fastest SUV at the time to the slowest at the time .lol
They were badass for sure.

That's Mike's at RPM Motorsports in CA (great vendor for the syty community). He's working on a new motor as we speak and sold that one.

Bought a black Typhoon in '93. Thought it was fast if you hit it just right.
No way was the Typhoon as fast as our Jeep. Not put together nearly
as well either. Sold it in '97.

I loved that truck when I was n High school...now it seems a bit dated. My weekend toy is a '94 RX-7 which I think still has some modern-day styling that hasn't aged with time nearly as much as some other cars/trucks from the early-mid 90's.

Regardless, it was a bad-ass truck!

I was in high school when the Sy/Ty came out. So I went with the baby brother to them, the Sonoma GT. It was a cool little truck and rare as well (806 built). I had that from 92 til probably 98 or so when I got a sweet deal on a well-kept 93 Ty. I absolutely loved that thing. It was a blast to drive and good looking, too. I miss that ride big time.
