after seeing that another member mentioned Lucas products i figured i would see just how many of us are using Lucas fuel injector cleaner? guess the brand doesn't matter so much...the mechanic that helped me install all my goods before told me that today's fuels are garbage and proceeded to show me all the grime as a result of poor fuel. he told me i should use an injector cleaner every 6000miles or so. has anyone else heard of this fuel quality and as a result started using fuel injector cleaner in their srt?

I've found that Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner works very well... I've used it every 6-10K miles on my '91 XJ. 167K miles on the factory injectors.. has never required service and the last smog inspection results were well below the state threshold.

A long time Mobil customer, I've decided to change to Chevron fuel.

Redline SI-1......been using it for a very long time. Wish I had pics to show you how well it kept the injectors clean off my wife's old '94 Grand Am GT. Motor basically worn out at 114,000 miles.....injectors needed nothing. Intake was also extremely clean.

FYI:
SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner SI-1's injector and valve detergent is a concentrated package of the most powerful high-temperature detergents available to clean gasoline fuel injectors, intake valves and combustion chambers. SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner can clean injectors to nearly 100% efficiency in one treatment. The cleansing effect on injector deposits can raise fuel economy approximately 12% or even greater, depending on the condition of the injectors. Although many gasoline producers advertise injector cleanliness, GM presented a paper to the SAE which indicates that their customers encountered injector plugging with all major brands of gasoline (SAE 861533). SI-1 also contains detergents and a synthetic upper cylinder lubricant which will help clean the intake valves, pollution control valves, combustion chamber deposits and carburetors. One bottle of SI-1 to a tank of fuel can reduce octane requirements by two numbers. SI-1 also protects the fuel system from rust. One bottle treats up to 100 gallons and is safe for continual use.

Just make sure you use a top Tier Gas eg. Shell! I also like Techron...buy a 4 pack of it at Costco for $14

I use Techron in all my vehicles for the last 20 years. Never had one injector serviced.
Now I also use this BG 44 every once in a while. It seems to work magic as well. I get it at Napa for about 25 so these eBay proices may be real good.

Hopefully no one; totally unnecessary, save your money.

My Dad has always used Techron in all of our family vehicles. From the vettes hes owned in the past to my moms mountaineer (has a 5.0 Mustang Engine in it)....I thought that was fast before I got my SRT, to his work truck (89 Chevy Van...5.3 litre V8 with 120,000 on it...nothing wrong wiht the engine..Coolant hoses are another story). Really good stuff. as for going 6K between times, I honestly do it before every decent road trip. Havent taken the SRT on on yet, but I will def put the Techron in. And as Shodanusmc said, Costco has the best price on this stuff. Lucas is good, but much more expensive. And if you use Lucas, you have to make sure you use the Synthetic version.
