Hey all,

I have been using my cell in my car via bluetooth U connect.

It works great but for some reason it does not display my signal strength nor does the battery life. They just remain blank. Am i missing a setup feature?

Is any one else having this problem?

Mine displays signal strength but not battery life for my V3 Razr but I paired a friends phone (It might have been a V551 but could have been a Samsung or LG look alike...I didn't really pay attention) the other day to show him how the system worked and both signal and battery meters worked, so I guess it depends on the phone???

Yes it depends on the phone and even the phone's bluetooth firmware version. My RAZR and SLVR both don't show battery life.

Also even though your phone always shows caller ID on it's display, apparantly for some reason the Uconnect only gets it from the phone depending on what cellular network you're using. This is according to someone who said their caller ID never worked until they were roaming on another network, when they were back home it stopped working again. :(

That sucks,

Because I just switches to sprint. i have a samsung and it doesn't show the batt or the signal. Does anyone know a phone i could get through them that would work??

Also when the phone is connected via bluetooth or "U connect" does the car have it's own antena for signal so if the phone is in my pocket it won't effect reception?

The phone's antenna is still used. UConnect only works as a input/output (voice and dialing) device.

However, if you have the REC navigation, its VERY trick. If you have a paired phone connected, and look up a business with the nav, you can dial the business directly from the nav. It works excellent and is very cool.

It appears that any Sony phone should work well with UConnect, (there's an old compatibility list here (http://www.lxforums.com/articles/uconnect/uconnect_comp.html)) although I recommend you make an attempt to actually try the phone before buying it or make sure they have a 7 day return period if you wan tto make sure the battery and signal strength meters work.

Anyone know what profiles the UConnect system supports? I tried searching the Jeep site, but cannot find enough info. I don't have an SRT...yet...so I can't check the owner's manual.

------
Be sure to ask which Bluetooth profiles are integrated into both the car kits and Bluetooth enabled mobile phones you consider. The majority of Bluetooth car kits utilize the Bluetooth Hands Free Profile; however, newer cars and car kits are beginning to employ the Bluetooth SIM Access Profile as well. Bluetooth enabled GSM mobile phones that incorporate the SIM Access Profile work with these newer car kits and enable the automobile’s communications system to pull information from the phone. The Bluetooth communication system in the car is then for all intents and purposes an embedded phone, using the car’s antenna. The result is improved reception of calls made in the car. The 2006 Volkswagen Passat is one such car that supports the Bluetooth SIM Access Profile in its factory-fitted automotive communication system.

If you purchase your new car with a Bluetooth communications system first and shop for a phone later, check with the car's manufacturer for recommended phones. While all Bluetooth enabled phones should work with Bluetooth car kits, some Bluetooth enabled phones provide greater Bluetooth functionality in the car than others. Often, the automotive manufacturers or wireless carriers have conducted tests and can provide information on compatibility testing as Verizon Wireless has done for the Motorola v710.

The problem with cell phones is usually the carrier, they may have the same phone as another but dont turn on all of the features in their phone or charge extra for them.

Mine does the same thing unless you have it pluged into the cigarette lighter for some reason.

Magne,

Thx for the link. UConnect supports the vanilla "Hands-Free Profile". So, it doesn't leverage the cars antenna.. bummer.

My Uconnect displays signal strength but it is incorrect! It reads very little signal when my phone is displaying almost full signal. I have a V3C Razr phone. Other than that I like the Uconnect very much.

Has anyone used a Sony Ericsson W600i with Uconnect??

getting signal/battery strength, but no Caller Number display. I checked that I have the Handsfree service supported when I check the Uconnect device on the phone. Checked phone firmware version and it seems to be newer than the support ones listed on the web.

Anybody here having similar issues with Sony Ericsson phones? Gonna try with another SE model. Let me know...

I have used the SE W900 and the SE P990 without any problems at all.

When I first picked up my car I had the V3 through Verizon. The sig. strength and battery power showed on the display. Also, when making an outgoing phone call, the U-Connect would switch over in an instant.

I have since switched to Cingular. I now have a GSM Cingular V3 and nothing works the same. I have no display of either the sig. or battery. Honestly I don't care about those two things. The one thing that REALLY SUCK'S now that I'm with Cingular is when making a call, the U-Connect takes at least 10 seconds to switch over once the send button has been pressed. Most of the time people have either already picked up and are saying hello over and over again or they hang up! I'm forced to use my headset for outgoing calls. I only use the U-COnnect when receiving calls, and then it works the way it should, fast and easy..

I wish I knew a fix for this other than going back to Verizon because that's not an option...

I just answered my own question. I looked on the list of compatible phones and the v3i/I-tunes is NOT listed.. I'm screwed.. Time for anew phone!

I use a v3 some times, and it works fine for outgoing calls.... ONLY if you make the call though U-Connect. Don't dial it on your phone at all. Push the uc button and go from there.

Using various new Motorola phones with my UConnect I've never had battery, signal strength, or Caller ID display on the headunit. I just switched to a Blackberry 8100 and now I have battery and signal strengh, but still no caller ID :(

i have the LG chocolate phone... my nav shows signal strength but nothing else, i don't even think it's accurate because when my phone shows low signal my nav still shows full signal and the phone works properly, a little problem i have that's frustrating is when i'm on the phone and i'm walking towards the car the u connect automatically transfers my call into the car AND I"M NOT EVEN IN IT YET!lol my garrage is right under my bedroom also so when i get a call and the phone's in the bedroom it automatically cets connected to the car! and for the caller id; on an incoming call it doesn't show the # calling me on the nav, it just stated that i have an incoming call.

All you need to do is train the car to handle the calls. lets face it a good personal secretary would cost about the same and probably wouldn't be so much fun:rolleyes:

I have the Moto Q as well. I get caller ID, sig strength and battery reserve no problems, but (as other have noted) a truly annoying delay when both calling and receiving calls. Anyone else using Moto Q & what is your experience (and yes; I realize Moto Q is not on the Chrysler list).

I use my Blackberry Pearl with Tmobile. The nav shows me battery, signal strength, incoming calls, as well as signal. At one point I did hear the system as it dialed the other number. Now I don't hear it dialing and it takes a long sec to hear the other party?

I can hear mine dial ... it then cuts back to the radio/nav and waits a few seconds and then cuts back in. Of course by then the other party has answered and is wondering what is going on :(

Does anyone else have intermittent connection issues?

I have a MotoQ. Pairing, caller ID, incoming/outbound calls, voice dialing, everything works great. Well, that is when the SRT actually connects. Sometimes the car/phone connect almost immediately when I turn on the car. At other times, it might take 20 minutes, while at other times they don't connect at all. Although it shouldn't matter, I have ever tried with the phone in "discoverable" mode.

Has anyone had any luck getting any nextel phone's direct connect feature to work thru uconnect? I have a Blackberry 7100i and while the phone works great, I have to go crazy to disconnect uconnect when someone calls using direct connect. This is a real problem since I am a contractor and have about 12 supervisors calling in using that method.

I have the newst LG Chocolate (8550) and it does not stay connected. We've talked with Harmon and they said after testing it has to do with the Blutooth platform LG used. MyGig is still working on a fix to this.

Have you had any luck connecting the LG 8550 to U-connect? We tried a software update through Verizon, but it did not work.

I'm able to pair my Treo 680 with the uconnect, but when I place a call the incoming voice as well as my out going voice are garbbled and unclear. Has anyone had the same problem or know of a fix?

Just picked up my new Black 08 today. I love it, but I would love it more if I could get the bluetooth to work.

Thanks

Scott

I use Direct connect in my truck on the Mike network in canada and it seems to work alright as long as the caller alerts you first rather than just starts talking but you still have to use the PPT button on the phone for it to work through the U Connect and you don't get the audible beeps you normaly do while just using the phone. the direct connect number even shows up on the caller ID of the nav.
