: Slow forward After Reverse?

I assume I'm not the only one having this issue but it may affect me more because of where I live.

Whenever I need to go forward after going in reverse, the Jeep seems to lag for about 3-5 seconds before taking off again after putting it in drive.

The frustration comes in due to the constant traffic congestion and the limited area to make U-Turns in South Korea. There are many times where I just don't have enough room to make the U-Turn so I have to perform like a 2point U-Turn.

Is this by design to prevent Transmission breakage or is it something to do with the drive by wire? Is it something that could be fixed with software either from the factory or with the tuners out there (if it hasn't already been taken care of)?

Anyway, just curious.

sorry to tell ya... thats how it is... in order to change gears smoothly is to come to a complete stop then change gears... but thats when you put it in reverse...

After your reply, I sat there and thought about whether or not I come to a complete stop and I couldn't remember so I went out and tried it. It still seems sluggish.

Oh well, not really a big deal, I just have to factor in the extra time when I make my turns.

Mine is instant. If you are experiencing a 3-5 second delay something is very wrong.

Well... makes me wonder if something is very wrong with mine too.

Mine does it too... although it feels like 3 to 5 seconds when you have oncoming traffic headed towards you, it's actually more like 2 or 2.5 seconds at most. One thing that helps is if you put it into D while still coasting backwards. But don't hit the gas pedal until you're stopped otherwise it will stay in neutral.

I think you are right. It is actually about 2 seconds. Those 2 seconds seem like forever as I'm trying to get out of the way and I'm like "go go go go!"

I'm going to play with some different scenarios and see what I can tell.
