considering a purchase myself, but after reading through a bunch of threads, I've found that the quality and fit/finish of this vehicle is NOT what many of you expected. The performance aspects sound great, but the dependability, i.e. rattles, clanks, squeals, etc. concern me a bit.

Bottom line...do ya'll feel that this vehicle is worth the 40+ you pay for them? With all things being considered. I appreciate your feedback. I was really hoping that Chrysler/Jeep had finally turned the corner when it comes to quality products.

BTW, my Father owned a 1988 Cherokee with a 4.0 years ago that ran perfectly for over 300K miles. Changed a trans once. Of course he wants me to purchase one, but I told him THIS was a different beast all together!

Welcome. The search button is your friend. This question has come up many times. I think you can also infer from the amount of enthusiasts here that, despite the gripes, people love this vehicle.

Moreover, the SRT8 is roughly the same price as an Acura MDX with much higher performance. Something has to give.

I can tell you mine seems to be holding up better then my wifes $53,000 2007 Tahoe LTZ 4x4. I have no complaints I love mine.

Dude...buy one, go to SRT Track Experience and get an appreciation about how well these things are built. They are not you average grocery getter. You will get excited everytime you drive it...at least I do.

Same here. Never been to the dealer except for oil changes. No brake squeal, no rattles, no leaks, no problems!

I have the brake squeal, had the tranmission leak, windshield whistle, and trouble with the drivers window going down.

I paid for a fast SUV with a big motor and feel it was the best $45K I have ever spent.

I've had mine now for a year and put 20K miles on it with no problems. It has had a few rattles but I have been able to find and fix most of them. The ones I havent fixed I dont really hear when the rig is at WOT which is where I like to be.

I "traded up" from a supercharged Jaguar S-type R - so far I have zero regrets.

Price does not equate to reliability. That Jag was $66K new and was constantly in the shop. But it was an absolute blast to drive, so I loved it, put up with it, and hated to get rid of it.

I see the Jeep as being a worthy successor with some of the same type of attributes: jaw-dropping performance, stealth (the "what was that!" factor), and unfortunately: a potentially spotty reliability record.

I've got 11,000 miles and no problems. Nothing but compliments and stares on the street. It's my favorite vehicle out of all the ones on my signature- including the Lightning which I freakin loved!!

Buy it, you will be one of the few and proud owners. That's my nickle.

Mines perfect too. EVERY car brand has issues...my caddy cts-v sucked, my 530i bmw not so good, saab Aero was perfect, Audi..issues, GMC issues, Volvo perfect....and so on...the SRT-8 is fine.
