Well,

i went to the mall today and it was packed, so i used valet.

After I got out of the car a young kid wrote me out a ticket and ripped half of it off and gave it to me, then a different kid got in the car to park it and last thing I saw before I went into the mall is the kid leaving the lot and turning onto the main road..

So you know he wanted to take it for a little spin and rag on my brand new srt8.

Even worse, when I got into my car after I was done, I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but then as I was almost home, I looked on my key ring. The valet guy left the valet paper tag with the number and car description still on my keys. They always remove these when they take the keys from the rack of all the keys. But this time I guess he forgot. I look on the tag and under description it says "Gay SRT"

Well that just set me off. I contacted the mall security and told them what happened. Tomorrow I'm going to take the tag into them upone request of the security guy and then write up a report. The security man at the mall said I could press charges as it was a feloney...

The person who wrote the ticket out and who took it for a joy ride then parked it are two different people.

What would you guys do if you had the same problem. Do you think i'm over reacting?

Hummm.... maybe after test driving it he thought it wasn't fast enough so he wrote that description on the tag. Clearly you need a GSM supercharger. Or maybe he thought you were gay and you can sue for discrimination and emotional trauma.

Seriously though, the kid deserves a slap on the face, but what'll probably happen is he'll come up with some BS like he had to take it to another lot because the main lot was full. Just don't forget, if you go there and start pointing fingers then don't plan on valeting any car there ever again (not that you would want to after what already happened.)

Would your SRT8 happen to be Silver? Kids these days can't spell worth a crap... maybe it was an honest mistake. There is no excuse however, for "taking it for a spin". I would have that kid's job for doing that.

Me personally... I wouldn't let a valet near my baby - but that's just me.

I don't think it's a big deal writing down the Gay part,but the fact that he took your jeep for a joy ride would really piss me off.The Valet at my work smashed the left frond end of my truck and handed me the keys like nothing happened.Thank god I do a walk around everytime I pick it up.The dammage was $1,850.00 I was soo ****ing pissed off I had him fired.Not the fact that he smashed my Jeep"because **** happens" but the fact that I have parked there everyday for a year and those ****ers didn't say **** to me.If I would have drove off I would have been ****ed! If the guy did infact take your Jeep for a test ride I would have his ass.If you really want to get back @ them,I would talk to them and the police as if you are a Flaming ***ot and tell them that you are going to sue.That will get there nuts in a bunch.

If you can, see what they put on other people's tags. Also see if they actually park the cars in a lot that requires using the main road.

I went there today and got the owner of the valet company into this problem as well as filling out a report with the mall security.

The owner was being a complete @$$ over the phone, but the manager was very nice and said he would get down to the bottom of it and call me as soon as he could find who drove my car yesterday. There was no other lot, the kid took it on the main road for rag test on my car. They did talk to the kid who wrote the ticket. The kid said he wrote "gray" the manager told me he could tell he was lieing to him so he would take care of that as I gave him the ticket as proof. They do not write their cars up like that, the manager showed me all of the tags on the cars... silver for silver black for black, red for red, so all in all, they prob won't do a damn thing about this, but at least I got to put those punks in check to let them think twice of pulling that **** ever again with someone elses car.

It's just the principle of the matter and I was willing to take it as far as I did so I could feel at rest in some small way.

The color is spelled grAy, not grey. Don't think so, look it up for yourself. Grey is a varient of the mostly used spelling of gray.

But either way, they should NOT have taken your vehicle for a joy ride, and for that, he should be fired.

This is sort of silly. I think the bottom line is that there is an element of risk having a valet park any car. If I have to do so, I pay the guy something at the time I pull up and ask them to keep it up front. If it's a nice car, they'll do it out of principle.

I worked as a valet years ago when I was in high school. Mostly at parties at private homes. We always liked to keep the nicest cars up front and the GC SRT8 would be no exception. All the owner had to do was ask. If we could not obilge them, we would simply show them where they could self park.

Joyriding is going to happen, but not as much as you really think. Especially if they are not well staffed. They just don't have the time to do it.

Self parking is always an option. Maybe not convenient, but it is usually available.

My other car is silver and I remember at least one time it was written up on one of those tags as being "gray". Honestly it looks like he wrote "gray" - and just because other valets use the word silver doesn't mean that he does too. AND it's not like you're driving a pink volkswagen, the Jeep SRT is badass, nobody especially a young male would think it's gay.

Now you just need to go after the punk who drove it.

Just trying to point out that while you state that the valet spelled gray improperly, you, my friend, are quite wrong.

The accepted form of the spelling of gray in the United States is "gray", while the accepted form in the "Kings" english (i.e. England) is grey.

If you read my entire post, you would see that I noted that your spelling of grey is a variant (or as defined in websters as "varying usually slightly from the STANDARD form") of the American Engish spelling of gray.

I also pointed out in my post that you should be upset about the fact that the valet took your vehicle off the premises. This is your true argument, correct? I agree with you whole-heartedly.

But what I really don't understand is why it took you until you saw this PRECEIVED insult about your vehicle to take action???? I, as I am sure most on this board, would have high tailed it back to the valet stand the momment I saw my vehicle being taken for a joy ride, but I guess each has his own tipping point, and apparently from your response to my initial post (which BTW was meant as a friendly jab), your's is when you jump to conclusions and feel you are being personally attacked.

Also, look closer on your ticket. The valet is obviously writing the car info quickly, and from what I can tell, he attempted to spell it gray as evident by the slight line between the G and the a.

First silver car, not my first choice but when it comes to this car, it doesn't really matter to me :)

look at the ticket and if you see by the bottom part of the G there is a mark as if he was trying to write a cursive R and the E doesn't have the loop. when you write i guess all the letters look like they are suppose to too? pens don't always write and people have chicken scratch too. i think the joy ride thing should be taken care of, but the Gay Grey thing should be dropped.

sounds like to me he was made before anyone said anything to him. I would be mad too but the gay, guy, gray, or grey is more of a pride thing the way he writes it being mad at the kid for thinking he is gay or what ever. All of this could be worse and has been worse. When I was younger I did stupid things and I am sure everyone has at some point. Let it go make sure they take care of the problem with him and the job or give you a pass for parking and move on.

I have never had a problem with Valet. A lot of times, I'll just park at the Valet entrance, and give the guy a 20 and keep my keys. Most of them are pretty cool about that.

They pay me by piece work. Seriously though, there are a ton of threads in wrong forums here. I move them as I come across them, but leave an expiring redirect in the original forum. Just part of the job.

The title will always have "(Moved)" added. Read the descriptors on the forums page of what belongs in each one and you'll get a better idea - http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/index.php.

I'd like to see more forums added like Detailing, Wheels/Tires/Brakes/Suspension, Track Discussion, Lighting, Audio/Video etc. As it is everything gets crammed in Performance and General.

The whole idea of posting threads in the appropriate forum is to help members find answers easier.

CAI! Priceless...haha. Yeah, there's a lot of threads on all forums about them. A case could be made to have Performance sub forums for engine/intake/exhaust and wheels/tires/brakes/suspension.

I don't really have a problem moving and merging threads as I come across them. It's just one of those behind the scenes things moderators do on all sites.
