Intake, Chip, & Exhaust
I just procured my black SRT8 GC last Monday (with employee pricing!) - this vehicle has vastly exceeded my expectations, the pictures and videos cannot prepare you for what is about to occur once you step on the pedal.
I am impressed with the cumulative knowledge on this board, and I hope you guys will share some with me...
1) Exhaust -
I have to admit the stock system sounds great. It seemed as if it would be restrictive, and being stock I am sure it somewhat is, but it seems throaty. Because I saved money with employee pricing, funds are available to purchase the Zoomers Cat Back. The kit makes me apprehensive, because it sounds "tuney", kind of like a foreign jap car. Am I wrong? Can someone with the kit compare and contrast the stock setup versus Zoomers?
2) Intake -
Scouring the board, some people say the factory setup is sufficient, while others say it is inferior. I am close to buying the Mopar CAI. How long will the Mopar filter last? Is this the best kit for the Jeep SRT8? Also, where can I buy this part - I went to eBay and it is no longer offered?
The SRT8 engineers left a lot open for tuning. Does anyone know when a programmer/chip will be released?
One last question... It is never beneficial to immediately race your engine, most require a break-in time (such as the M3's I6). Is this true for the 6.1 as well. The SRT8 is so much fun to drive, sometimes I cannot refrain from mashing the pedal. I only have 450 miles on the engine, and I rarely take it to redline, but if/when I do, is it detrimental to the new engine?
~~I know these questions have been asked, but many have not been addressed since spring. New experiences and insights are greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance!
