my dam K&N isn't going to be here by Sunday (1st track visit)......

Anybody run their Jeep at the track or dyno with just filter OUT?

thanks,

Desperately trying to run 13.10 or better and pretend I'm dumb
& truck is totally stock to mess with my buddies.

I did it at the track.

I modded my stock airbox to be more of a ram-air

left the airfilter out for a few runs. If I burned up a few bugs I dont think it hurt the truck.

....nice picture in your posts.....

My question was actually more along the lines of "did it help/pick up?"

I tried it at the track with no appreicable gains--your results may vary.

Didn't you just do the snorkel mod? Soo you're doing the drop in K&N. I'm wondering whether you would see better gains with the Volant and snorkel.

Re: anybody run without a filter (stockairbox) track/dyno only?

I have the snorkel mod and KN drop in.
I tried with no filter once at the track and got the same time as with the KN.
On the Dyno, going from stock filter to the KN got me a gain of 6.6 hp and 8.2 tq. The GeneralC's comment on 5-7 hp is right on.
I would not run on the street without a filter, but if the KN does not show up in time, you can get the edge at the track for a few runs at the risk of getting sand up to the pistons.

I have also tried back to back runs with the K&N filter & stock box with brake snorkel vs. removing the K&N filter.....
zero difference in ET or MPH.
