Non-Mopar CAI/Catback warranty question

Hi all,

I want to upgrade into a CAI and Catback but am somewhat paranoid about warranty issues (I've owned GM for too many years not to be).

I figure the easiest route is to go mopar all the way but wanted to know if any of you B&B, DUB, Volant folk have had issues at the dealer when it comes time for warranty work.

Thanks!

If you get the Mopar/Corsa with the Mopar name on the tip........what do you think?

Find a local dealer that will install whichever exhaust you go with. Many of the dealers around here are trying to drum up extra service business this way.

Re: Non-Mopar CAI/Catback warranty question

My dealer sells lot's of aftermarket brand names. As do most dealers in my area. Volant, flowmaster, K&N, Borla etc. IF you're worried, call and ask the dealer first.

"I think that Mopar branded will be the easiest" (per my original post).

The "question" was whether or not those using "non-Mopar" aftermarket were actually having difficulty getting warranty work.

Now I'm still fairly young (34), but I've been modding vehicles as a consumer and media for 15 years. I have never, not once, heard of anyone having any warranty issues over an intake or exhaust, if installed correctly.

Dont waste your money on a aftermarket CAI. Modifying the stock one...K&N filter.... with cutting back the snorkel to expose it to more front grille cold air will give you way better results and you keep your stock look. I have dynoed 3 aftermarket cold air and with the hood up you see about 5hp-7hp....with the hood down and engine heat you probably see no gain. Volant has copied the stock cai for a good reason.......it works! Volant would be my first choice if I was to remove my stock CAI.

I'm sure the other catbacks show some gain but with the Mopar/Corsa you will have the Mopar named stamped on it......its field tested and engineered for the truck, sounds awesome and you have absolutely no drone resonance.......and you wont have to worry about Mopar coming out with a "quiet option".

Cool, thx!

I'm just a little gunshy from GM repeatedly making me actually prove that something was wrong with the car (when something obviously was) even on stock vehicles. Once I had a horrible detonation problem on my '01 Z, anytime I would climb over 4500rpm. GM insisted it was normal or I was to blame for the gas I was using (Chevron high test only). After 4 months of chasing the problem and bringing it to different dealers I found that part of the wiring harness was being pinched against the frame of the car under heavy accelleration. Unfortunately I had to take it to an independant corvette specialist at close $1100 out of pocket.

This is not to say that DCX is the same (I do not know) but GM is absolutely horrible in this regard IMHO.

Generalconfusion:

Thanks for the info/insight. Are there any links that you know of regarding this modification to the stock airbox?

Re: Corsa/Mopar, I like Corsa product in general but was just trying to get a sense of how "open" my options are without invalidating my warranty.

Thanks!

Re: Non-Mopar CAI/Catback warranty question

The warranty tends to be dealer specific, like they're "attitude" toward mods. My salesman originally told me I could do "anything" until I called the service dept to schedual my h/c, then I would have voided my warranty.
