Hi all, sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm going Monday to have the ignition switch replaced, the factory recall. Do I need to reset my computer back to stock before going? I have never been to a Jeep Dealer before for service.
Not unless you are having them look at other issues. The ignition recall does not required them to look into or touch your ecu. I asked this when I had mine corrected (dealer) to affirm and they agreed.
Just got it done yesterday, world of difference, you have to push the key in and then turn it, it's much tighter. Took them about an hour to do. Definitely eases my worry.
Sorry to bump this, but how long did you have to wait for the recall to be done?
I got my letter nearly 4 weeks ago, rang Jeep who said they would order the new switch and I've heard nothing since. I'm just wondering if they're on back order or something, especially over here in the UK as we do tend to get forgotten about.
When I called, they had it in stock, so i scheduled it a couple days later and it took about an hour. I would definitely call back and get a status update and tell them how important it is for your safety to get this taken care of.
