Has anyone tried nitrous?

Hey guys, I am new here and hopefully will be a Cherokee SRT-8 owner this June...

Just wondering if anyone here has thought about or is running nitrous. I am fairly familiar with the 5.7L and there has been some real brainstorming on another Dodge truck website about the potential of this 6.1L Jeep with nitrous. I know of many guys running 150 shots on the 5.7L, and some guys at 200hp and beyond on the stock bottom end. The concensus was that you should be able to spray this Jeep into the 11s no problem considering the 6.1L is stronger than the 5.7L and the fact that the Jeep is pretty light and AWD.

I am installing a system in my truck and should be making over 450rwhp and close to 600rwtq on the bottle, I can't imagine what it would be like to put my 125 shot on a Cherokee... Hopefully I'll find out soon enough

I'm gonna be all over a 200 shot myself. Hoping more for some high 10's....

I see no problems with a properly set up 100-150 shot & can see this getting a GC SRT-8 pretty deep into the 12's.

I'd love to see that happen, but seriously doubt the 10's will be that easy, LOL. It takes a lot of added HP to drop from low 13's to the 10's, LOTS. And even with AWD you'll be traction challenged if you get the HP without seriously aggressive rubber.

Re: Has anyone tried nitrous?

IMO a realistic 1/4 mile projection with a 200 nitrous shot would be a high 11 low 12 at best. With nitrous the SRT8 would most likely need another 125 HP, higher stall speed torque converter with a sticky radial to drop it into the
10's

Re: Has anyone tried nitrous?

I definately would not run a single shot of 200... with two stages you could though, 75 off the line and 125 once you hit 3000-3500rpm works great on the Rams.

But either way, a 200 shot = 200rwhp more. Realistically you should be well into the 11s with that. If you look at how the 5.7L responds, you should be able to squeek into the high 11s on a 125 shot without much drama... especially if you open up the exhaust.

You are gonna need more than just nitrous.

I wonder how well will this AWD driveline hold up in modded trucks?

Re: Has anyone tried nitrous?

The crank in the 6.1L is much stronger then the crank in the 5.7L -- so thats always good You dont want to be a member of the DOTCC (Drive over the crank club) like alot of turbo buick fellas.

It won't be the crank that you break. The pistons though are a different story!!
