Can the rear bumper strip and sensors be removed without taking off bumper?

Got rear-ended two weeks ago and my Jeep is headed to the body shop next week for a new rear bumper cover. Luckily she cut the wheel at the last second and didnt touch my exhaust or back-up sensor strip, although she did take out one rear fog

I am contemplating blacking out the side and rear chrome strips, and if I did so I would want to try and paint match it as opposed to vinyl. I am not 100% what I want to do yet. So my question is can these rear chrome strips and backup sensors be removed when the bumper is still on?? Or is it necessary to take the bumper off to remove them and paint? Because if the bumper has to come off, then I might as well have them do it now while it is all apart.

Anyone know for sure? Also can the chrome strip be sanded and painted?

John

you can take it off with the bumper still on?

and your sensors still work the same even if they are painted and clearcoated?

Is there a "how to" on this? Or is it as simple as climbing underneath and releasing tabs??
I have some Stillen covers on the way and wouldnt mind getting my chrome front and rear trim pieces painted at the same time.

You have to remove bumper first.

thats what I expected.

next question, if I still want my rear sensors to work good, is it better to paint the strip and sensors or cover in vinyl?

The rear strip cannot be removed without pulling the bumper. It's secured in place with locking fasteners which can only be removed once the bumper is off.
