Ill be out west August 4-7th for a work conference. Flying back on the 8th. I hear its a great place to try the local brewpubs. Craft beer is big is Delaware... and i love craft beer. So any brewpub style restaurants would be awesome. We will be downtown near the convention center so it needs to be within a reasonable distance. If there is a place that i just cant leave portland without trying, let me know!

If you guys know of any night time hangouts downtown for the younger crowd (25-35) i wouldnt mind checking some places out.

Thanks
-Matt

Not necessarily a place for your a specific age group but you should go to Hubers and order a Spanish Coffee. I prefer it on the rocks and I don't even like coffee.

Watch this show or On Demand it, they just showed one on Portland

Brew dogs was just at my buddys brewery. They have them ranked #3 in delaware and they have only been opened 10 months. That really saying something since Dogfish Head is ranked #1. Im sure youve heard of it, they distribute nationally.

Just had some Dogfish Head at a tasting over the weekend. If you watch the show I mentioned, there is a bar that all the local breweries test their beer at. It's on my list to check out when I go back.

Is it Widmer Brothers Brewing... heard good things about them. Heard of a few other places. Voodoo Doughnuts, Bunks Sandwiches, Otto's Sausage

Not positive, I just watched it over the weekend. They even show a map.

Hair of the Dog Brewing Co. One of most acclaimed in PDX.

BridgePort Brewing Co. They make a pizza dough with the lees that is outstanding.

McMenamins, Probably one of the most popular local brewpubs with locations throughout PDX. An institution. Each pub is different. Some are quirky and hip. Some are relaxing and friendly. All have great beer.

MacTarnahan's Taproom, Portland Brewing Co. Take the tour!

Unfortunatley, you are missing the Oregon Brewer's Festival at Waterfront Park, which is starting today. It is HUGE. Great beer everywhere. The crowd will spontaneously erupt in hooting and hollering all day. It is FUN! Cops probably hate this event. LOL.

Where is your conference? Where will you be staying? I could give you more helpful advice if I knew both those things. For example, the food carts in PDX are insane. So many choices! Also, Beaches Cruise-in at Portland International Raceway on Wednesday. It is huge. Typically 1000+ cars. Yes, that is 1000.

We are staying at the Portland Convention Hotel (Red Lion Hotel) right across the street from the convention center. 1021 NE Grand Ave. 97232. Ive heard the food carts are amazing. How close are they to the hotel/convention center? Where do they usually setup?

The MAX light rail will take you right from the convention Center to downtown. Easy and quick. Cart pods at SW 3rd and SW Stark, SW 5th and SW Stark and the grandaddy at SW 10th and SW Alder (30+ carts). Best time is at lunch, many closed at dinner. Many other cart pods around town if you are driving.

Great restaurant: Nicholas Restaurant. 1/2 mile south of convention center on SE Grand. Great Lebanese food. Huge portions. As soon as your sit down a hot pita that is fluffed up like a pillow comes from the brick oven.........then you are grubbin' like there's no tomorrow.
