I drive it like I stole it right off the bat, always worked for me.


Only break in I do is on old motors with non-roller cams and that's just the 15-20 min 1800-2500 rpm time.

Poorboy is right - new cars do not need it. Actually you want to "train" the mechanics to rev freely and willingly over the whole rev range. Here are points to take care of nevertheless: oil changes and temperature. Especially at the beginning I add an early oil change to catch and dispense chafing (because I expect some more due to me not pampering the engine) and I keep intervals shorter (because I pamper my engine over the long haul I tend to keep it). Also, if at all possible, I let the engine (and fluids) warm up before using it (remote start), or putting any stress (higher revs) on it. [ my 5 c from studying physics and from a friend that had a Mercedes dealership]
