Well someone had to be the first one...
To break something on their WK2 that is. I broke an axle last week, front drivers side to be exact. Broke the cv joint closest to the front diff. I launched it hard, revved it to about 1100 and let off the brake and slammed the gas. It hooked good and I heard a pop. Thought it was a rock hitting the fenders or something, got up to about 60-65 and got a really bad vibration, almost like you have a flat tire, that didn't go away. So I limped it home put it up on jack stands and spun the front wheel. You can see the joint not spin perfect it's more oblong shape. Had it towed to the dealer this morning, they won't have an axle till Monday. They said they are gonna put a rush on shipping so it will hopefully be here sooner. I'm hoping this won't be a normal thing and maybe mine was just defective. I did this on the stock 3 season pirellis, definitely gonna be nervous though from now on especially when I go to the track. I don't want to worry about getting a tow and I don't know how many times the dealer will replace the axle. So be careful as we really don't know what the limits are yet, I expected the tranny to go, not an axle.
