FCA Uconnect is releasing a new complimentary software update designed to add Apple Siri Eyes Free capability to the vehicle’s Uconnect system for nearly two million properly equipped Uconnect vehicles dating back to the 2013 model year.
“With the addition of the Siri Eyes Free feature for later model-year vehicles, more customers will have an opportunity to integrate their iPhones with Uconnect while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on road," says Tricia Hecker, Global Head of Connected Services, FCA. “By adding Siri Eyes Free capability, customers will be able to use their voice to dictate and send messages, select specific songs, create reminder notifications and set calendar entries.”
About Siri Eyes Free
Drivers can activate Siri Eyes Free from the voice button on the steering wheel and speak natural language voice commands to send text messages, play music, set reminders, place phone calls and access turn-by-turn directions. Drivers will simply push and hold the voice recognition button on the steering wheel until the Siri screen appears on the 8.4-inch touch screen and the user hears the audible tones. Siri Eyes Free is compatible with an Apple iPhone 4s or later.
I did the update. It seems now when I have the my iPhone (6s) connected via USB the radio will freeze up and no buttons or volume control will work. Have to do the the hard reset (MUTE & ENTER) button on the UCONNECT to reboot the radio to get it to work again.
Siri eyes free does work though. Just a note, this does not give you Apple Car play as a friend of mine wrongly assumed.
Zaimiam just got this 16.16.13 update on his '15 and he now has the new SRT pages. Has valet mode as well. Only problem is "Options" are gone and his units are metric. Temp is C, speed is kp/h, hp/tq are kw/nm and pressure is kPa. Anyone else have this and know how to fix it? Anyone with a '14?
I just updated my Uconnect software and ran into the same issue with the units being metric. I sent FCA an email regarding the issue; hopefully they'll get back to me soon...
That temp can be changed in settings before getting into the performance pages. But no options on the new pages for some reason. Any '16 guys confirm this is true?
So strange thing happened the other day. As earlier discussed, I had the same issue with the new performance page after update with units being changed to metric and no way to switch back to US. This morning after starting my rig, the SRT performance page had reverted back to the original display with the options tab and all. Went to the settings page and my system info still says I have the update installed (16.16.13)...not sure what to make of it. Still waiting to hear from FCA.
I actually just ran into this issue. I just called FCA for confirmation of this issue, but they didn't acknowledge that it was and scheduled an appointment with the nearest dealer for this week. I assume they will probably just go a factory reset, but they actually might run into an issue. With others experiencing this issue makes me hope that they will actially solve the issue rather than ignore the issue.
Anyone able to get the update now? I just went to Uconnect® Software Update - Update your Uconnect® System and entered my VIN, but I keep getting an error with my VIN. I downloaded the software a week ago but didn't install it...so I have the update, but worried that they may have pulled it back because some of the errors above. Anyone having luck accessing now?
Update available
Your 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT 4X4 SPORT UTILITY 4-DR equipped with the system qualifies for the following software update:
Update 1: SIRI UPDATE FOR UCONNECT® 8.4AN_RA4_16_16_13_MY15
Service Bulletin ID: 08-053-16
Release Date: 2016-04-21
Being an Android user, I'm not sure I want to do it.
I called uconnect and they said it was a website issue on the day that I was trying. Sorted itself out later that day.
I uploaded the update without issue. It showed the weird srt performance page with metric and charger/challenger options, but after driving around for 30 minutes and connecting my uconnect app to it on my phone, it updated to the right performance page. Now I have the Siri talk option working. Went fairly smooth.
This is apparently STILL happening, as I just did the update on a (new to me) 2015 Jeep GC SRT, and have the same problems: metric stuff for engine in performance page, and, after a few engine on-off cycles, it reverts from v02.00.14 to prior v1.57.01 one.
Any ever figure out the fix to this issue? I just did the update in mine and I had the updated SRT Pages with Drive modes, etc. but the units were in metric, etc. And after a few key cycles it went away and now I have the old SRT Pages version. Anyone figure out how to get it back? I did a master reset in Engineering mode which brought it back but only for a limited time and also with Metric units for HP, temp, etc.
