Muffler Value Squeak??

Well I took my 2014 into the deal today because over the last few months the is a squeak noise that is heard upon acceleration from a stop and sometimes can be heard shifting into 2nd gear. The tech looked at everything and came back saying it is coming from the muffler! There is some sort of valve inside that is making the squeak noise and they want $2,400 to replace!
Has anyone had this issue?
Looking at getting an aftermarket muffler and having it changed out. Any suggestions?

Tell them to pound salt. It's a valve to control noise. The 15s don't have it. I think it can be removed or wired open, you don't need it. They only rattle and make noise.

I threw a CEL last week after installing my catback. Exhaust pressure or something or other. So they don't serve a purpose but create an annoyance once they're deleted. The fix is to have a tuner write out the code, but I'm going to wait until I have more mods before I bite the bullet on that.

I used a couple sheet metal screws and nuts to lock my valves open.

Rattling stopped and haven't had any issues since. Stupid design.

fwiw...supposedly they exist to reduce/elim drone during MDS transitions....removed for 15+ and anti-drone duties were given to acoustic windshield/front glass and the ANC headliner microphones....

I heard this as well which made me nervous to lock mine open. I, personally, didn't notice a difference.

would imagine that was part of the reason for the change or more like whatever good it did, likely little/none, was unnecessary with the acoustic glass/windshield and ANC.
