I have a 2012 and just picked it up two weeks ago. I've noticed an intermittent issue with the remote start where it will honk/flash lights but not start the car. Today it did that, so I went to start it with the interior button and got a no-start. Repeatedly hit it and got nothing. The car says Run but it's not engaging the starter at all. No click. Nothing. I do hear it prime the fuel pump but it doesn't do anything after that. I checked my battery connections are good. Fuses and relays look good. I swapped a few relays around to se if I got a different effect and nothing changed. I popped the button out and tried to use the key. Same results. Battery is good. Radio, lights, Windows, door locks end hatch all work fine with power. What am I missing? Is this a starter issue or a tipm issue or is it a security lockout feature? Anyone have this issue?
I read about the wireless module and the TIPM issued earlier today. What's odd about my issue is that the starter doesn't even turn over. No solenoid click or anything. I suppose it could be a bad solenoid, but the relays and fuses all looked good. It's at the dealership where I bought it from and they told me they would try to have it back to me tomorrow. I'll update.
This exact thing happened to my 2014 yesterday. Jeep told me it would be two-three weeks before they could even get it in to look at it. All the while I have a business trip planned to Vegas next week and they told me they couldn't get me a loaner car in the mean time. Its a 2014 with 14,000 miles. Not sure what to do. Mine clicked for a few hours trying, and then now nothing. Power works everywhere else just as descried. Tried both keys to make sure it wasn't a key programming issue.
Jeep told me today that it's the wiring for my starter and that they will have the parts in tomorrow and will give me a call. I believe you're experiencing the bad TIPM issue, because your starter solenoid is clicking. Mine is doing nothing, but I'll keep you posted on whether the starter wiring fixes the issue.
I just finished with this for the second time in about 3 years. My SRT is a 2012 with 72000 mi. The first time I assumed that it needed a starter. It turned out that the main terminal on the starter was simply dirty or corroded. As it is almost impossible to get to any of the connections (even on my lift), without some serious removal of components, I was able to loosen the nut and spray Wd and liquid wrench, wiggle to clean a bit and retighten. Car started immediately.
I forgot about this episode until last week, when I had one "delayed" start, where I had no cranking at all in a parking lot. I turned everything on and off a few times. I held the start buitton in for about 10 seconds and fired right up. Drove it a few times after w no issue. Until . . I parked the car in the stone barn where it lives with the right side and front side very close to the walls, making it almost impossible to get to the passenger side, and in front of the engine compartment. came in the next day and - no starter cranking! After multiple attempts, the "red lightning bolt" light illuminated, which indicates a TPS sensor failure, according to the forums. Purchased a throttle body on Amazon so I could have it the next day. Bolted it on, did the throttle re-set process, and it started right up! Case closed-right? Drove around the block, and like an idiot put it back in the barn. Next day - no cranking again - and the TPS light is back on! Put the factory throttle body back on after a good cleaning. Had my local favorite garage guy come over with his analyzer laptop, which showed no faults anywhere. Had to drag the car out of the barn with the trailer hitch and get 3 guys to help push back into the liftbay. Very heavy car to push - and steer w no power BTW. Cleaned the starter terminal - and All fixed - again!? for now. Stand by for progress report - hopefully not from out of town.
