So. I initially thought my jeep was rattling in the sunroof. Apparently not. The damn rattling is coming from the passenger seat, near the head rest posts. So damn annoying. Anyone else have this issue? Jeep is due for an oil change so I will bring this up to their attention.

Well you say passenger and this TSB is for rear but it sounds dead on...kinda scary of a fix having your seat skinned...look at the hours they pay for...turning the stereo up a better option? >
I have this same issue with my 2012... Sounds like its coming from the plastic part that holds in the head rest... It goes away if i hold the left post of the head rest where it meets the seat. Thinking im gonna open the seat up and see if i can fix my self. Hate the dealership working on my baby lol.:grin2:
Yep, me too...I grab the left post of the headrest and it goes away...and my wife thinks it's me trying to get close to her!
I'm going to discuss with the dealership since this will be my first oil change (5,900 miles on it). That and my heated steering wheel tends to turn off intermittently (although it's not an issue in the spring!)
I had this happen in my SRT8 magnum. I fixed it by adding a little epoxy on the posts, and then bending them out slighting with arm strength for a tighter fit - did the trick.
Took the jeep to the dealer yesterday to get an oil change. Told them about the rattling issues: one of them from the "B" pillar and the other from what i think, the rear passenger seat head rest. They said that they couldn't recreate it. Huh? I told them they need to drive over any bump. Idiots. I guess I will call the service mgr on Monday and offer to give him a ride.
Took the service manager out for a spin. It appears the ratting is coming from passenger head rest. Hopefully he's right. Dealer has one on order. This rattling is driving me crazy. [emoji34]
I'm having a crazy rattle that just recently developed. Definitely sounds like it's something loose in the pano/sunroof. I've held and pushed on the passenger seat/headrest and it makes no effect on the noise, so I'm guessing that isn't it.
I have that too, sounds like something loose or just touching somewhere under light+ road chop...pushing on moving or stationary pano panes or the shade do not alleviate it....started with warmer weather...to be honest, I have more creaks and groans than my SRT does :surprise:
FWIW, I had a rattle in the headliner at the right rear corner of the pano-sunroof, intermittent, would go away for a week, then come back loud. I Took down the headliner and found a full fledged 12MM bolt that was rolling around between the headliner and the roof. Could not find it's home, rattle gone.
gives u a warm fuzzy don't it? :surprise: was it assembly "inattentiveness" or intentional, "...man the sucker that gets this one will go nuts figuring this one out...:surprise: I know what I have "done" to some rental cars prior to return...>
Quick question for all of you: does your rear interior area rattle when you drive over bumps? I mean loud enough to to drive you nuts. If you think it's the pano roof assembly, would you let them fix it?
Yeah. I have done that. The white noise speakers do not help as they affect me in finding the source. Yesterday the dealer said that it's coming from cargo area and all SRTs do this. Does yours? This weekend I will be experimenting with taking out the spare tire etc within that space and see if the rattling goes away. Good times. [emoji3][emoji1417]
An update: last Friday, the dealer added some padding in cargo/spare tire area and fixed the rattling coming from beneath the passenger seat. That did not fix all of the rattling. The wife and I drove around this past weekend and we confirmed the other rattling is coming from the rear passenger head set. Ugh. At least there is a TSB on it. I'm frustrated that the dealer did not look into the other rattling. Lazy bums. Ha! The jeep will be going back to the dealer this Friday for the 5th time. [emoji35]
I also told the service mgr to order a spare head rest in case the TSB doesn't solve it. The TSB Notes it as chirping/squeaking. Mine is rattling. Crossing my fingers.
I love my jeep. Dealer fixed the rattling rear passenger head rest this past Friday. I was happy as a boy getting laid for the first time. Drove home - no issues. Drove it a little on Sat - no issues. Went to parents yesterday. On the way home, the dreaded rattling in the front passenger head rest comes alive. Ugh. Sounds like a freakin loose marble in there. :-(. Drove around today with my daughter in the back seat and she confirmed its coming from the head rest. The dealer replaced this head rest several weeks ago. So bummed.
Update. The dealer installed a front head rest from another jeep SRT and again the back plastic piece is really loose and rattles. [emoji45] the dealer is ordering a new one again. Does anyone have the breakout detail of the head rest? Can you install the headrest without taking it apart? The plastic piece on my driver headrest is nice and tight.
Awesome. Jeep customer service called me yesterday and said that the new headrest the dealer received has some severe rattling when you shake it. They have to order a new one. I'm glad customer service is doing their job. [emoji1417]
Get an email and text message from jeep customer care saying that the dealer (auto nation - Arapahoe) has found a solution for repairing my head rest. I show up and the service mgr has no clue. WTF! Just left a message with customer care. I'm so pissed right now. At least they can look into my P0456 code that just popped up.
