When I first got into Lambo was this time last year, I was all about the Aventador ($475K), just like this forum is great to learn about GCSRT8s, I found Lambopower and Lamborghin-Talk forums and ALL Lambo owners recommend for all new Lambo owner to look into Gallardos and not jump straight into an Aventador.
I'm sure you guys have read about that artical last year where an Aventador owner crashed his car because he didn't know how to drive the Aventador or realize its reponsiveness. So after some research, I decided to spend $200K instead of $450K for a Gallardo first and then I can always upgrade.
I was looking at a 2008 Gallardo Spyder and a 2009 Gallardo LP560, after surveying both Lambo forums, everyone voted to go with a 2009 because of the vast changes in cosmetics and engine performance. Further, other Lambo owners said 2012, 2011, and 2010 Gallardos have the same engine as the 2009s (except for LP570-4, Performante, Superleggera, Super Trofeos). So no point spending more money on newer models when a 2009 is pretty much the same as newer MY models. Plus, if I am plan to get an Aventador later, then what's the point spend that additional $50K on a 2012 model Gallardo on top of $200K that I already spent?
I never considered any Murcielagos because I didn't like their looks, except for the SV version, but any SV is about just as much as an Aventador. If that's the case, then why not just get an Aventador, right? Also, everyone says a Murcie is the most difficult Lambo to drive out of Gallardos and Aventadors. Lambo owners says, forget driving the Murcie in any public parking garages! Lots of blind spots and the car feels big!
As matter of fact, my one year Lambo ownership anniversary is coming up next month in February!
