I have checked and didn't find too much information on here, but is there a preferable power source people on here have tapped into somewhere close to the rear view mirror.
I wanted to install my V1 radar detector without the cord running to the bottom but somewhere up top remotely so it's way neater.
Any tips from anyone who has run one of these in these cars before is much helpful. Thanks.
I ran mine from an add a fuse underneath the hood then down the rabbit hole at the passenger fender where the positive terminal is through the quarter sized grommet at the bottom to in the car under the passenger footwell then up to the A pillar where cops and thieves :x don't see it as in this thread
Where are located? Luckily in Texas detectors aren't illegal only radar/laser Jammers. You have to hide those but now they even have jammer detectors....
I used a "Blendmount" and "MirrorTap" and it looks like a factory install. With the mirror tap you just stick two prongs into the wiring harness of you mirror and wala you have power. Cant get a pick of mine since it is in the shop but this is the same thing. I had the same setup in my Vette and I will never have a car without one again its such a clean look. Here is a link to a similar install on another forum.

Well where I am, even having one is illegal but that wasn't my point. My comment was about the placement. In California you are not allowed to disrupt your line of sight through the windshield. This includes but is not limited to hanging stuffed Pokenmon from the rear view mirror, putting stickers on the glass, and hanging radar detectors by your head.
No worries. I do not know what the OP year is. I wanted the blendmount but found that it did not fit with my truck If it fits his truck it is a good product for V1s!
In Ontario it's illegal. I would get a system if it was undetectable. I believe my rights are being violated when they're allowed to zap me with radar waves and I'm not allowed to know about it ... lol. What's the drill if you go from one state where it's legal to one where it isn't? Thanks, George.
This is also an option for places where you can't legally have one or hang one from your windshield. My friend had the Parrot one in his Escalade EXT and it was so sweet you would never even know it was there unless he wanted you to know. Everything was hidden and only had a red led in the instrument cluster for stealth mode. It was pricey though. The second link is a cheaper one not sure how it compares.
Anyone happen to have a part number of the black dust pan/cover of wiring behind interior rearview mirror? The large black plastic cover lol don't know what else to call it.
