How To: Trinity Vent Mount

I've seen alot of other installs with the Trinity and i just dont like seeing wires running everywhere. So i decided to do a vent mount on the right side of the steering wheel and run the wires through the vent to clean up the install. Well here is how you do it...

1.) To start you will need a richter style vent mount. You can pick them up for around $10.00 similar to this one: http://www.igrip.us/1534

2.) You will want to grab ahold of the dash with your hands on top of the dash where the half circle from the bezel meets the dash and pull the bezel towards you. Its just held in with a few clips and comes off really easy.

3.) Once you have the bezel off you will want to remove the vertical fins from the left vent. It pops out pretty easy with a flathead screwdriver working from the top.

4.) After that is out use a dremel to cut a hole in the side of the vent big enough to fit the trinity OBD2 adapter through.

5.) Then feed the wires from the outside throught the hole you cut and then throught the horizontal fins on the vent. I also ran the cable for my AFR gauge through this hole as i have a wideband hooked up to my trinity.

6.) Once the wire are run, install the richter mount on the back of the trinity, plug the wires into the trinity and then install then vent mount onto the vent and adjust it to your preference.

7.) Remove the lower dash cover under the steering column by pulling down on the cover and it pops right off. Route the wires down into the dash between the heater vent and dash gauges and reinstall the bezel onto the dash.

8.) Run the OBD2 wire over to the connector on the bottom left side of the dash and secure any loose wires with zip ties so they wont get caught in the steering linkage. Re-install the lower dash cover.

Done! Only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.

great write up!

is it easy to remove the trinity off the mount? or do you have to remove the whole mount from the vent?

if you leave slack in the cables you can slide it right off the richter mount. The mount itself you need a flathead screwdriver to pry up on the clips to slide it back off. Once its on there its pretty secure. honestly you can pop the bezel off the dash in about 3 seconds if its that big of a deal.

Thanks for the post Matt! I bought this mount right before Christmas with this in mind. I'm not sure I left enough slack in the AFR cable to make it to the other side of the dash but maybe I could just get a 3.5mm extension cable if I have to.

Great post Buddy!
